SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME 09.00 - 15.00

Use of fluorides in caries prevention, knowledge of periodontology and osseointegrated implants, are probably the most important discoveries in dentistry during the 50 years that have passed since the European Section of the ICD was founded. Sweden is the birthplace of modern implant dentistry and the Scientific Programme will be dedicated to a state-of-the-art seminar with renowned Swedish speakers giving both surgical and prosthetic aspects of treatment and results.

Current Trends and Future Development in Implant Prosthetics – Dr. Hans Nilson, Associate Professor, Prosthetic Dentistry, University of Umeå.
Dr. Nilson, with more than 20 years of experience of implant treatment, has lectured extensively both in Sweden and world wide, and is a consultant in private practice in Stockholm and in London.

Reformation and Reconstruction of Bone in Oral
and Maxillo-facial Implant Surgery
– Professor Stefan Lundgren, Department of Oral
and Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Umeå.
Professor Lundgren presented his PhD-thesis in 1985 followed by clinical and research positions at the UCLA. Chair of the Surgery department in Umeå since 1999.

The Cresco Ti Precision System: Presentation of a Technique for Fabrication of Abutment-Free, Passively Fitting Superstructures – Dr. Ulf Lundén, Private Practice, Solna
Dr. Lundén graduated in Stockholm in 1978 and is in general practice in Solna, but also accepts referrals for restorative and implant dentistry.

Guided Bone Regeneration in Implant Dentistry – Current Trends – Professor Christer Dahlin, NÄL Medical Centre Hospital, Trollhättan
After presenting his PhD-thesis in 1993, Dr. Dahlin is now considered as one of the pioneers in the concept of Guided Bone Regeneration. He is an Associate Professor at NÄL Medical Centre Hospital and at the Department of Biomaterials, Institute for Surgical Sciences, University of Gothenburg. He is also Courtesy Professor at University of Florida, College of Dentistry in Gainesville.

Different Aspects of Some Treatment Concepts in Prosthetic Dentistry– Dr. Sven Scholander, Prosthetic Specialist, Kristianstad
Dr. Scholander graduated in Malmö in 1979 and is specialist practice in Kristianstad , since 1987, working with all aspects of prosthetic dentistry, mainly focusing on developing adhesive and esthetic methods.
