New Regent for the Benelux Region

Dr. Walter van Driel became Regent for the Benelux Region at the 52nd Annual Meeting in Cardiff in June 2007 in succession to Dr. Frans Kroon who became Vice-President of the European Section at the same meeting.

New Vice-Regent for Belgium

Dr. Patrick Adriaens has been elected Vice Regent for the Benelux District.

President for the Year 2010

At the December 2006 meeting of the Board, Dr Frans Kroon, Secretary-General of the European Section and Regent for Belgium, Luxembourg and The Netherlands, was elected President of the European Section for the year 2010. Dr. Kroon, of Bloemendaal, The Netherlands and the University of Amsterdam has been Secretary-General of the European Section since 2003.

Benelux Fellows in the European Section

The Post of Treasurer

Traditionally, the Treasurer of the European Section has for several years come from The Netherlands, and with Dr Rudy Landman from Den Haag as the Section's Treasurer since 2000, the Section has indeed been fortunate that this tradition continues. Dr Landman stood down as Treasurer following the December Board meeting in December 2006, and again, a Fellow from the Netherlands has been elected to follow in his shoes, namely, Dr Jan van Hoeve. The formal installation of Dr. van Hoeve as Treasurer took place at the Annual Meeting in Cardiff in June 2007.

International Ongoing Dental Education

In October 2005, Dr Jan van Hoeve, now Treasurer of the European Section, travelled from Oosterbeek to the First International Dental Meeting in Odessa, Ukraine as a representative of the European Section where he spoke on Perio-Restorative Relations, Perio-Endo Problems and Periodontal Bone Regeneration. He also gave a Master Class on Periodontology in Dental Practice. Dr. van Hoeve travelled to Odessa again in October 2007.
