55th Annual Meeting of the European
Section to be held in Maastricht

It is a great honour and pleasure for me to invite you to
participate in the 55th Annual Meeting of the European
Section of the ICD.

The scientific program is entitled: “Back to the roots of
Dental Health” and has been chosen to contribute to and
to elucidate on some of the prominent activities by the
European Section like the post-graduate training in East
Europe. Consideration will also be given to Flexible Learning
Platforms (Distant Learning) and how it can improve
these aims not only in our Section but also in Dental Aid
Programs Worldwide.

The ‘European Allure’ of the Historic and International
oriented town Maastricht as the venue for our meeting
reflects the ongoing attention in the European Section to
continuing growth, especially by spreading into the
Eastern part of Europe.

In addition you will experience Maastricht as a magnificent
and splendid town to embrace and host the European
Section for its Social Events to celebrate its 11th Lustrum
Meeting and to provide the perfect atmosphere to meet
new Fellows and renew old friendships.

Dr. Walter van Driel Assumes the Post of Treasurer

We were very sorry to learn that due to a serious illness Dr. Jan van Hoeve, our Treasurer, has had to relinquish his post. All of us in the District as well as the entire European section wishes Jan a speedy recovery.  At the Board of Regents meeting in London this past November, Dr. Walter van Driel our Regent was nominated and accepted the position of Treasurer. He is in contact with Jan on a daily basis to ensure that the transfer will go smoothly.
