Greece and Cyprus Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Region of Greece and Cyprus was held on Monday November 8th, 2010 in the premises of the faculty club of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the restored neoclassical mansion “Kostis Palamas” built in 1857.

Forty four fellows and spouses enjoyed a warm evening of fellowship and friendship. After the usual welcoming cocktail, the evening started with a short address by the Regent of Greece and Cyprus and Registrar of the ICD-European Section, Dr. Argirios Pissiotis, introducing the newly inducted fellow in Maastricht last June, Dr. Ilia Roussou, to the rest of the Fellows and giving some up to date information about the College’s recent activities. He also presented the contents of the Scientific and Social Programs of the 56th Annual Meeting of the European Section of the International College of Dentists, in Vienna Austria from the 16th to the 18th of June 2011 organized by our President Dr. Peter Brandstätter and extended his invitation to the Greek Fellows to attend it. Both programs were very well received by the Fellows and their spouses.
Finalizing his remarks Dr. Pissiotis referred to the motto of the ICD:” Recognizing Service as well as the Opportunity to Serve” and said that the 7th District of Greece and Cyprus has a wonderful opportunity to serve this year in Greece and for this reason he invited the Guest lecturer for the evening, Fellow of the ICD, Dr. Dimitrios Emmanouel to give a short presentation entitled “Special Olympics Athens 2011- An Opportunity to Serve”.
Dimitrios Emmanouel gave an excellent 15 minute presentation on this opportunity for dental volunteering to the participating athletes of the Special Olympics 2001 who are already winners of life. There were two more announcements one on behalf of the ICD Fellow Prof, Lisa Papagiannoulis who is organizing the Annual Meeting of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry in Greece www.iapd2011.org next year and the other by ICD Fellow Professor Konstantinos Tsicklakis, Vice Dean of the Dental School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens about the Centennial Celebration of the Dental School next June in Athens.
The evening entertainment included a delicious four course dinner served in the private function hall of the “Kostis Palamas” mansion, leaving everyone present with the aftertaste of an excellent evening with their ICD fellows.
