2010 Annual Meeting of the Italian Section

The Annual Meeting of the Italian Section of the ICD took place this year in Villa Pomela, located in Northern Italy’s Novi Ligure.

Organized by Corrado Paganelli, the Italian Regent, and Vice Regent Mauro Labanca, this meeting offered a compelling mix of topics and lectures.

In the usual friendly and relaxed atmosphere, many Italian Fellows spent a nice time together sharing opinions and projects, and listening to speakers. The annual meeting is also the time for introducing future inductees: in this way the candidates can come, see and understand what the College is about and become familiar with current Fellows.

The Vice Regent asked all speakers to present their specific topic in an appealing way, not by “teaching” Fellows, rather by providing an update on their specific field; all of them accomplished this task perfectly.

After a speech by the Past European President Prof. Giorgio Blasi, Prof. Paganelli briefly report on the Maastricht meeting for the Fellows who did not attend. The speakers  were Massimo De Sanctis periodontics, Alessandro Motroni, imaging systems; Giuseppe Cozzani  TMJ; Maria Grazia Piancino masticatory cycles and neuromuscular control, Raffaele Vinci atrophic jaws and their rehabilitation and Luigi  Rodella on oral-facial pain.

In addition, Valeria Melca, a lawyer, introduced us to a new Italian law regarding the settlement of patient/dentist litigation, and Sergio Borra, chief executive of the Dale Carnegie Italian section, discussed the importance of trust between people.

At the end of a full and exciting day we had a gala dinner in the perfect College atmosphere with dinner jackets and plenty of style.

The immediate and post feedback has been great, with many compliments from everyone. Most importantly, all participants expressed the desire to attend the next Congress gathering, which means we succeeded in reaching our goal.
