Portuguese District to host the 54th Annual Meeting in 2009

It is with great pleasure that the European Section announces that the Annual Meeting in 2009 will be held in Portugal under the Presidency of Dr. Antonio Tavares, former Regent for Portugal.  Dr. Tavares became President at the 53rd Annual Meeting Annual Meeting in Athens in June 2008.

Many FICDs remember well the 1992 Meeting, held in Villamoura in the Algarve, when Dr Gil Alcoforado (Senior) was President  - the last Meeting to be held in Portugal.   The European Section looks forward to returning to Portugal again some 17 years later and is very grateful to Dr. Tavares and the Portuguese Fellows for their kind hospitality.

Portuguese Section Winter Meeting

The Portuguese Section of the European ICD organized their Winter Meeting last November 21st in order to present the new candidates who will become ICD Inductees at the next Lisbon meeting in June to the Portuguese ICD group.  22 Fellows and prospective Fellows gathered together  to listen to our European President, Dr. António Vasconcelos Tavares present to them the scientific and social program for the Lisbon meeting. The Regent used the opportunity to enlighten the newcomers and refresh the memory of the old Fellows about the responsibilities placed on the shoulders of those who accept the ICD Fellowship. Fellow João Aquino Marques, who was inducted recently in Athens, gave us a lecture on "Ethics and marketing in the dental world", a very current theme which generated several questions from the audience. The meeting was closed by our President who asked all Fellows present to make sure they will be in attendance at our 2009 Annual meeting."
