Annual Meeting October 2007

The autumn meeting of the England, Wales & Scotland region was held on Saturday 13th October at the prestigious Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall, London.

Twenty eight Fellows and their guests met at 7pm for predinner drinks, a lower turnout than usual possibly related to the fact that there was a very important rugby match being played between England and Australia (the semi-final of the Rugby World Cup) at 8pm that same evening. Nevertheless the food and wine were excellent and the company and general bonhommie first class. The Past Regent Phillip Dowell made regular announcements of the score (there was a big screen television near at hand) and fellows and their guests were given special dispensation to adjourn for the last 10 minutes of the match.

In his after dinner speech Prof. Dowell paid tribute to his local organising committee for the  Cardiff meeting including Anne Hallowes, Stephen Hancocks, Mike Hill and Mark Wright all of whom were present at the dinner.He also thanked his wife Sheila for her help and support.

In conclusion he reminded all present of the wonderful opportunity to see and feel the warmth of the welcome to Athens by the new president Dr Aris Petros Tripodakis, the program looks very exciting and we would like to see a large contingent from the region.

A new Master for the England-Scotland-Wales District

Dame Margaret Seward, Editor of the European Section from 1993 to 2001, and formerly Chief Dental Officer of England and Wales was conferred with the Degree of Master of the ICD in Cardiff, June 2007.
