England-Scotland-Wales District Annual Meeting

The autumn meeting of the England, Scotland and Wales District was held at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in London on Friday 21st November. Thirty-three attended the dinner, gathering in the Nuffield Bar for drinks beforehand.  After dinner the new Regent Dr. Shelagh Farrell thanked Dr. Phillip Dowell for his work as past Regent and as President of the European Section.  She welcomed the previous Regent

Dr. Bruce Mayhew and spoke of the excellent meeting in Athens. She also expressed her hope that as many Fellows as possible would attend the meeting in Lisbon in 2009 and Maastricht in 2010. Dr Dowell also spoke, commenting on his future appointments to the Transition Committee and the Projects Committee and his role as lead person to look into the continuing education program.

Two of the three new inductees were present, Dr. Jason Burns and Dr. Richard Vaughan. Prof. Esmonde Corbet from Hong Kong was unable to be in England, but has offered to host a meeting in Hong Kong for any interested European Fellows.

We congratulate Dame Margaret Seward, a past editor of the ICDigest and of the FDI’s International Dental Journal for being elected to the FDI List of Honor at the recent Annual World Dental Congress in Stockholm.
